Are you ready for Newport Restaurant Week?

Whether you are local or out-of-towners visiting Newport you have to take advantage of Newport Restaurant Week! Starting this Sunday-November 1st to November 8th over 35 participating restaurants are running an incredible deal of 3-course lunches for $16 and 3-course dinners for $30.

And this is Newport County-meaning Jamestown, Middletown, Portsmouth and Tiverton!  I am going to be reporting for you-tell me where I should go by joining in on the blog. I’d love to have your feedback.

yesterday for lunch, my partner and i decided to try a restaurant for the fall season of newport restaurant week…our criteria was based on his somewhat “limited” dietary repertoire (he won’t eat seafood) and with that in mind, we narrowed it down to and finally went to The Brick Alley(which i have to confess that i am not a big fan of)…however, i was very impressed with their offering and walked away happy and sated…let me elaborate

we were greeted very promptly and professionally and were seated at the table of our choice…however, we were presented with only regular menues and after i asked about their offerings for “restaurant week”, our server very cheerfully presented us with a separate menu…one of the reason we chose The Brick Alley, was because my partner loves their soup and salad bar (listed at $11.99) which was the first course of their restaurant week offering…talk about a great deal…it was all-you-can-eat as well! for $16, we also chose an entree and had a dessert to look forward to

after several trips to the salad bar, our entrees arrived…the sole vanderbilt for me and chicken picatta for my partner…not only did both dishes smell delicious, but the portion was staggering and we ended up taking half of both our entrees home for dinner that night…the chicken picatta consisted of two half chicken breasts (which my partner said was good, but not great)…my sole vanderbilt had so many scallops (the sea and not the bay variety) that i thought i had died and gone to new bedford!

i decided to take my cheesecake cake dessert home (which our server, kimmy, very happily put into a paper-based to-go container…kudos to the restaurant) and we shared an apple crisp ala mode (which i found too cinnamon-ny) but my partner loved

if you want a GREAT deal for restaurant week, try the Brick Alley
