Well in a day and a half it will be summer-officially as I really think summer begins the first of July-and someone tell whoever is messing with our weather to cut it out! We’re drenched…and longing for those hazy, lazy days of summer where we can walk without dodging showers and having to pack that umbrella in your pocket…sun and fun is what makes summer in Newport so special so bring it on!

My guests (I run an inn on Kay Street) have given me some great feedback for restaurants-H2O and the Landing where the “twenty-something’s” go for cocktails and fun. If jazz or blues is your thing the Newport Blues Club is a happening scene.

I just had a fabulous dinner at the Smokehouse Café.  With Newport Storm beers-I recommend the BBQ hog wings-they are to die for. Another spot that’s hot right now is Fluke. They’ve got a new chef (he worked with a famous chef in NYC for a long time-but he doesn’t want to focus on that-he wants to do his own thing!) and I had one of the best dinners in a while the other night-especially the “hanger steak and frites”-the menu changes daily so try it out you are guaranteed it’s fresh as can be!

Locals, visitors-we love you! Get out there and have some fun. Take one of those new rick-shaws home-they are more fun than a cab!
